the cardiff community cohesion cup.
A great football initiative for cardiff & our inner city communities.
the event
We've created a football tournament which is played across Cardiff within the BME communities, culminating in a Super Cup Final hosted at the cardiff city football stadium against a select eleven of ex professionals from Man Utd, Cardiff City & Swansea City.
this started in 2014 with a team from the Sudanese community playing a team of local police officers & ex professionals, this then grew to 7 teams in 2016 . for 2017 we now have10 community teams to take part, which will kick off early in the new year.
for 2017 we are also pleased to announce the introduction of a girls only tournament which will also be held at the cardiff city football stadium.
Why did we create both events?
We are passionate that through the power of sport, we can break down barriers, open direct channels of communication & build trust between various authorities and the communities themselves.
for the girls only tournament our objectives are to enable girls, specifically from the bme communities to be introduced to football, creating a pathway to more established leagues.
We have seen direct improvements since launching in 2014 & we have the full support & active involvement of the South Wales Police, Welsh Government & the key community groups across Cardiff.
If your team, company or organisation would like to play your part, we would love to hear from you, so please get in touch.
